Call For Submissions

Projected Intimacy
Deadline: February 28th 2011

Projected Intimacy ,a project curated by University of Manitoba Fine Art students Helga Jakobson and Dean Robinson, is calling for submissions of work that would pertain to cyberformance art. Never heard of it? Cyberformance art is any performance art which uses the internet as a medium and may include telematic art, or art where telecommunications is the medium.

Projected Intimacy will revolve around works that explore our online interactions. The works we are interested in exhibiting will be those that explore how society uses the cyberworld for intimate interactions. While exploring the concept of intimacy, or that of the projected self, through the private screen of a computer(or any other communication device) we would the like to project that interaction. Also of interest is the use of social networks, the blogosphere, youtube, and any of the other places where we connect in the online world.
This exhibit is open to artists the world over and will be streamed online. In addition to performances there will be a panel discussion, and other works that will stay in the gallery. The exhibit dates are March 15th through to 17th,, from 1-4 on each day of the exhibit will be screenings of work. The panel discussion will be on the final day of the exhibit, Thursday March 17th, at 6:30.

Our focus will be works that amplify the exhibitionism of the internet, in addition we are looking for works that convey the inherent connect/disconnect we experience in our interactions on the internet.

In order to submit your work please include an image, video file, or if these are not possible, then please give us a written explanation with diagrams or sketches that will outline your submission. As well we are asking for a CV.

Submissions may be sent to: projected.intimacy@gmail.com
We are currently working on a blog to generate further ideas: http://projectedintimacyex.blogspot.com
